Breakfast Club
Breakfast Club runs on school days during term-time, from 7.45am to 8.45am.
Children are greeted by our staff on arrival at Breakfast Club, and are offered help to settle if needed. At Breakfast Club, we usually have four tables set up with varied activities, toys, and games for the children to use and play with. These may include: mark making, small world, construction, or puzzles. If there is a game, toy, or activity, that isn't already out, children are always able to ask a member of staff. Breakfast is available between 8.00am and 8.30am, and a variety of foods are available to the children during this time. Cereal and fruit is available every day, and we aim to always have one hot option available. We also cater to a variety of dietary requirements, and have alternatives where possible. Out food menus are varied so different items will be on offer each day of the week. Children are encouraged to get their own breakfast and wash up their own plates, bowls, cups, etc. when they have finished eating their breakfast. This helps the children with learning independence and teaches them essential life skills. Children will also have a choice of outdoor play activities each morning (weather permitting). We have a storage box outside full of items for outside play at Breakfast Club, this is separate to the equipment used by school and Afterschool Club to ensure greater variety. Children are encouraged to help with tidying up at the end of each session and will be given small 'jobs' to carry out before they are registered and taken to class. All children tidy the games, toys, and equipment that has been used during the session together. Small jobs that some children may help with include: putting away going home books, and tucking chairs around tables, making sure that the Dining Room is left tidy ahead of the school day. The children are then registered and taken to their classrooms ready to start school at 8.45am. Children in Meadows, Nursery and Reception (EYFS) are supported by a member of staff to ensure a smooth transition at the start of their day.
