Dear Parents and Carers,
We are excited to inform you that we will soon bring the management of the Meads and Meadows’ provisions under school management. Our governing body, the board of MMG and I see this as a very positive proposition. We believe that, with the advantages a school holds over a private entity, the school will be able to enhance the setting for the benefit of our children, parents, staff, and the school itself without costing parents any more money.
As this transition happens, we say a fond farewell to Rosa, who, after doing so much work to make this transition possible, is moving on to a new job. I know that I speak for everyone when I say that we owe a huge debt of gratitude to Rosa for her years of loyal and dedicated service to the school. She will be greatly missed.
We will recruit a new staff member to manage the setting. Because of the existing structure within school, it won’t be a like-for-like replacement, but I would like to reassure you that we will prioritise both excellent management skills and extra-curricular expertise (sports perhaps) that can help us achieve our aims.
Our primary goal in undertaking this transfer is to enhance the provision on offer for our children and you as their parents. We want to expand the service to provide our children with interesting and fun opportunities that will seamlessly blend with the ethos of the school and their learning. With control of the provision, we will also be able to provide consistent safeguarding and behaviour management in a way that would not be possible as a private setting.
Our secondary goal is to improve the school’s financial position. The school has always benefitted from financial support by MMG, and will continue to do so under the new structure. With the school running the service, there will also be financial savings from not having to buy duplicated services such as insurance, and there will be no corporation tax bill. We will reinvest these savings into improving the school and the Meads and Meadows settings . Beyond efficiency savings, we have ambitious plans to make the service even more attractive to children and parents. For example, we want to develop provisions on offer at the holiday club, to make it the first-choice option for children and parents.
We want to reassure you as parents that there is no intention of raising prices for the foreseeable future. Because of the efficiency savings we anticipate, for the core service we commit to freezing prices until the end of 2022.
We have tried to summarise any answers to potential questions you may have below. If you would like to discuss anything further or raise any additional questions, I will be more than happy to meet with you. In order to collate any initial questions, please use the link to the form below to detail these and I will respond to you in due course.
We look forward to working collaboratively with you as our parent community to improve this service and thank you in advance for your support.
Is my child’s place at either Meads or Meadows safe? Yes, all current places, including the times allocated to these, will remain as we hope to provide a seamless transfer for services users as the transfer is formalised.
Will there be a change to pricing for the services on offer? No, pricing will remain the same until the end of 2022.
Can I still use childcare vouchers or tax free childcare schemes to pay? Yes, we are working closely with Rosa to ensure we have set up all the current schemes on offer and will notify you as soon as possible about any new account details you may need.
I’ve already paid in advance for my place – what happens now? We are currently working with MMG to arrange the transfer of any funds already paid – there is no action required by service users if you have already paid.
What will happen to the current waiting lists? We aim to offer more places in the Meads wrap-around provision and reduce our waiting list and potentially improving the flexibility of our offer. We will also publish a transparent admissions policy for Meads and Meadows, alongside our admissions policy for reception – year 6. We will honour existing waiting lists.
Will the staffing of the settings change? All staff currently working in Meads or Meadows have been offered the opportunity to transfer their roles to continue to support the new provision. We are in the process of consulting for this transfer and hope to update you regarding staffing as soon as possible.
