Festive Thanks

12/21/2020

We would just like to share our thanks to parents and carers for continuing to support us across our setting throughout this year. Without you, none of this would be possible and we are extremely grateful for the support.

It has been a tough year for many, and we are lucky to still be running and offering the care that we do across our setting.

Also, a massive thank you to our staff for their continued input and flexibility with all of the adaptations which have had to be made.

Wishing you all a Merry Christmas & Happy New Year!

See you all in January!

We are currently in the process of allocating places for the Spring Term (January 2021) intake and it's set to be another busy term! Due to this, we are recruiting!

We are looking for a Nursery Nurse, qualified to a Level 3 (minimum Level 2) who will be available to work part-time, 1.00pm-5.15pm Monday - Friday during term-time. The role of Nursery Nurse will involve working in our popular Pre-Nursery and Wrap-Around setting, based at Mill Mead Primary School, Hertford.

What we are looking for:
We are looking for applicants who are able to work 1.00pm-5.15pm, Monday-Friday. Additional shifts may also be available during school holidays, by mutual agreement. Childcare arrangements can be considered if you have a child, or children, currently attending Mill Mead School.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  •  To help in the transition from our Pre-Nursery and to / from our Wrap-Around care.
  • To be part of the team providing a safe, stimulating environment for the children, with creative and appropriate play opportunities.
  • To carry out daily risk assessments.
  • To lead activities in a controlled and responsible manner, implementing the current Behaviour Policy when required.
  • To act as a good role model for all children.
  • To contribute to planning activities.
  • To carry out observations and next steps on Early Years children.
The Meads are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children. Applicants must be willing to undergo child protection screening appropriate to the job, including checks with past employers, and an Enhanced Disclosure via the Disclosure and Barring Service.

Online Bookings

We have some exciting news... following some recent feedback from parent users, we have carried out research and will be moving to an online booking system going forward!

Today an email has been sent to our term-time users (Reception - Year 6 only) as this will initially be used for Annual / Contract Bookings only.

We are hoping that in the future we will also be able to use this for Holiday Club bookings for external users also!

We will keep you updated with more information and how to access this as we add more dates and get to grips with the new system.

Summer Feedback

7/28/2020

We have officially finished our first full week of Holiday Club (started last Wednesday), the feedback so far has been brilliant. At the end of the first day we asked the children if they enjoyed it and what their favourite part was, they said "it was the best day ever!".

We've had some lovely comments from parents when collecting children and even had a lovely email today with some feedback saying "our kids have really enjoyed their days at holiday club", and it's only the beginning!

It's great to have received such lovely feedback already, and we hope to continuing working hard and receive even more!

We have been posting daily on our Facebook Page with a few highlights from the bubbles of children on each day, so be sure to check it out to see what the children (and staff) have been up to! A few photos are included in this post also.

Summer Holidays

7/16/2020

We hope that you are all well and keeping safe. Unfortunately we have been rather quiet on here and our social media pages, however, we have been extremely busy behind the scenes!

Summer Holidays:
In our office, government advice has been read, spaces have been reviewed, plans put into place, risk assessments carried out, staff training updated, and we are opening for the Summer Holidays from Wednesday 22nd July to Wednesday 2nd September - yippee!

Due to guidelines spaces have been limited and children have been allocated into bubbled for this period based on the days booked, but we are so excited to have you back and get some sense of normality.

September Meads Wrap-Around Care:
We are still working out how to manage wrap-around care for September and have emailed parents to gauge usage on this which will allow us to put further plans into place.

We will keep parent users updated with any decisions made regarding wrap-around care.

September Meadows Pre-Nursery:
We have been working hard to get everything ready for September to welcome our new intake of children. There is still some final tweaking that will need to be done over the next couple of weeks, but we are confident in the plans created so far and can't wait to get back into the classroom!

We look forward to seeing you soon!

MMG Corona Virus (Covid-19) Update

Dear Parents/Carers,

We hope that you are well and keeping safe.

We have made the tough decision with committee this morning that we will close the setting to all children for the remainder of the Spring Term, including the remainder of this week, and all of next week. This will also include the Easter Holidays.

Rosa and Jess will still be in the office at various points throughout and will be checking emails daily over this period. We will be working to keep communications open between the committee, staff, and parents where possible.

We hope that things will be back to normal soon, and thank you for bearing with us during this difficult and uncertain time.

Regards,
The Meads Management Committee

Weekly Updates

We have a new website, yay! Unfortunately, due to this, we have lost our previous blog posts - however, we are going to be blogging weekly with updates from our setting, so we'll have plenty to read through and catch up on soon!

This week, our blog post will be introducing a staff member, with a drawing of them done by the children, and a small blurb about their likes and interests outside of work!

Our focus staff member for this post is: Ruth.

Ruth works in our Out Of School and Holiday Club and has been with our company for around two years. Prior to working at The Meads, Ruth worked for Waitrose in the town. Outside of work, Ruth enjoys walking her springer spaniel, yoga classes, arts and crafts, and reading.

The drawing below was done of Ruth by some of the children at The Meads.
