After School ClubThe Meads After School Club runs on school days during term-time from 3.15pm to 6.00pm daily.
Children are registered and collected from their classrooms at 3.15pm by a member of Meads Staff. Children in Meadows and Nursery are collected at 3.30pm when their afternoon session ends. Children in EYFS (Meadows, Nursery and Reception) spend the first 45 minutes in the Early Years Middle Area. They have structured planned activities each day, and this includes: indoor and outdoor games, circle time, arts and crafts, and free choice. The EYFS children are taken to the dining room at 4.15pm where they either go home, or sit for an early tea. Children in Year 1 through to Year 6 are taken straight to the dining room from class where a rolling snack is available until 3.30pm, this usually consists of fruit or malt loaf, with a fruit juice or water. The dining room will be set with a variety of activities which changes daily. These may include: art activities, small world, construction, mark making, and games. Staff create the planning ideas ahead of sessions, and often ask children for their feedback and input. Sessions at The Meads are free-flow meaning that children are able to choose between activities as they please, and are not tied to one particular activity or area. Children are able to go outside from 3.30pm with a member of staff (weather permitting), and will have access to the wide variety of outdoor equipment that we have available and store in The Meads Shed. Tea is served at 4.30pm (or 4.15pm for EYFS children). Tea is not to replace an evening meal and should be enough to fuel children until their evening meal at home. Foods menus are varied so different items will be on offer each day of the week. We also cater to a variety of dietary requirements, and have alternatives where possible. Children are encouraged to get their own tea and wash up their own plates, bowls, cups, etc. when they have finished eating their tea. This helps the children with learning independence and teaches them essential life skills. Parents / Carers are expected to collect children on time for the end of their pre-booked session. If for any reason you are delayed, please contact us as soon as possible to let us know. Please note that collecting later than your pre-booked session time may have an impact on staffing and other children within the setting and, therefore, will incur a late fee in accordance with our current price list. Extra-Curricular Clubs (Afterschool): If your child attends extra curricular clubs after school and will attend The Meads after the club ends, you are required to book a session from 3.15pm to the time you will be collecting. This is so that we can guarantee your space if the club is cancelled for any reason. Please ensure that you let us know if your child will be attending an extra curricular club after school so that we know what time to expect them to arrive with us. Meads Council: We have a Meads Council made up of children in Year 5 & 6. These children meet every half term to discuss ideas for activities, new equipment, and fundraisers.
